We are in a National Scenic Area where there is an abundant variety of wildlife including seals, otters, deer and many beautiful birds. It is a wonderful area for a holiday, whether you want to be energetic or just relax and absorb the gentle colours and shapes of the surrounding countryside.
Ashfield is a 500 acre family estate on the shores of Loch Sween in Mid Argyll, recently awarded 4 Star grading by the Scottish Tourist Board. We have four main enterprises; farming, forestry, a hydro-electric scheme on the river Lussa producing clean, renewable electricity and a stone built self-catering cottage sleeping four, Millstone Cottage, which forms part of the farmhouse.

Recently renovated to a high standard, Millstone Cottage has a fully fitted, open plan kitchen, complete with dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine, electric and microwave cookers and a spacious living room. There is also a shower room and WC. Upstairs are a double and a twin bedroom. A cot is available on request. The cottage is comfortable and very cosy in cold weather. All windows look out to the loch and surrounding farmland and are double glazed. We welcome well trained pets.

If you are looking for seclusion in a truly beautiful and private place, our Bothy might just be the place for you. Situated on its own in 45 acres of mixed woodland, it has 1.5km of coastline, private jetty, slip and boathouse suitable for small boats. There are woodland walks and two small connecting ponds which are frequented by a healthy otter population and a lawn which is grazed by the resident deer. The Bothy has stunning views across Loch Sween to the Taynish Peninsula, which is a nature reserve, it is a perfect place to look out for seals and watch the sunsets which are amongst the best in Scotland. Salmon and sea trout fishing rights come within its boundries. Boat trips can be arranged. A private access track of 200 yards takes you completely away from the public road and on starlit nights no light pollution interupts the night sky.
This well-built log cabin is warm and cosy with a woodburning stove that heats the water, so a hot bath is always on the agenda. All fire wood for the stove is supplied and included in the price. There are two bedrooms, one double, large and the other bunk bedded, small and a bathroom. All duvets, bed linen, towels are provided. The sitting room and kitchen which are open plan and have double glazed windows on three aspects, giving panoramic views up, accross and down the sea loch. There is a gas cooker and a refrigerator and all the usual crockery and cutlery etc. and is comfortably furnished. Lighting is supplied by 12v battery and wind turbine.
