Potash Barns is a 8 acre smallholding in the sleepy hamlet of Brundish, nestling in the heart of rural mid-Suffolk. It comprises 3 very tastefully converted Grade ll listed farm buildings. All have been finished to a grade 4* Tourist board rating.
Being equi-distant between Norwich and Ipswich, we are ideally situated to explore and enjoy all the sights, culture and entertainment of East Anglia and its beautiful Heritage coast.
We are 5 miles from the town of Framlingham, and its castle, and 12 miles from the coast boasting Southwold, Thorpeness, Aldeburgh, Dunwich, Minsmere, Orford and of course Snape Maltings with its renowned arts programme. Walberswick is a family favourite of ours and is one of the most relaxing, unspoilt beaches in the country.
We also have our own cultural centre nearby at Wingfield Arts offering courses, exhibitions and concerts. Indeed, we run our own occasional courses in our purpose built studio, so keep an eye on our website, or simply call and ask us.
Potash is a family business, and we welcome families with children of all ages. We do not try to be a theme park, but its understated simplicity is a joy for children. They can play table tennis, table football and a variety of board games inside the New Games Room. Outdoors we have a swing/climbing area, football area as well as the ever popular trampoline! They can get to know our pygmy goats, lambs, horse, chickens, and ducks. We encourage the children to feed our baby kids and lambs and collect the eggs. And parents will enjoy the ever changing interest of the wild flower meadow, or the unparalleled Suffolk night skies.
Spend your days walking, cycling or just loafing. We are not the kind of hosts who ‘encourage’ guests to leave the barns during the day! Where else could you be within such easy reach of great beer, fine local wines and excellent locally produced vegetables, meat and poultry?
We are always here to recommend some of the many excellent local hostelries and restaurants. If you don’t want to drive, we can arrange for a horse drawn carriage to pick you up, take you to a fine old Suffolk pub for lunch, and bring you home. Or, take the kids on an old fashioned picnic tour. Suffolk has so much to offer that you’ll wish you had stayed longer!
